STATEMENT OF FAITH

This statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of Abide in Him Ministries, Inc.'s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our board of directors is Abide in Him Ministries, Inc.'s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.

We believe that:

There is one God revealed to us in three co-equal, co-eternal persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

God's word was and IS God and that He became flesh in the person of Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son. He was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a totally sinless life and willingly laid down His life for us by allowing Himself to be crucified at Calvary.

He rose again from the dead on the third day and He ascended into Heaven where He now sits on the right hand of God the Father. This is where He rules over His body, The Church, which remains on earth and one day He will literally, bodily, return for His Church.

The Holy Spirit convicts depraved man of his sin and convinces him of his need for a Savior. The Holy Spirit seals and indwells the Christian believer and is with him day by day to teach, warn, comfort, encourage, and give assurance of salvation.

As a result of Satan's deceit and man's own prideful desire, Adam sinned and destroyed his perfect relationship with God. Because of this, every man and woman is born with a sin nature, and is condemned to die physically and spiritually. Man can be saved from spiritual death by God's grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ and can never do anything to earn it. In fact we believe it is spiritual pride and a sin to try to earn it. This is the thrust of our message in all our teachings........TO TOTALLY RELY ON JESUS CHRIST and not on ourselves. To know Him means to experience Him in an intimate relationship similar to marriage. Only after salvation through Christ is man's personal relationship with God restored.

We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. (Acts 3:19-21; Rom 10:9-10; 1 Cor 6:9-11.) We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31.) Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of Abide in Him Ministries, Inc.

God communicates with man through His written Word, the Bible, inerrant and immutable, and through His Holy Spirit who indwells every believer. Man communicates with God through prayer and worship.

It is possible to hear God's 'Voice" and "promptings" in our spirits and we believe that each believer can and should mature to a place where he can "try the spirits" and discern which is of God and which is of the enemy.

Core Values:

Man and woman were both created by God, equal in value, but with different roles. We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Gen 1:26-27.) Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person. The man is the head of the wife and family. The husband must love his wife as Christ loves the Church and gave Himself sacrificially for it. The wife must submit to her husband's authority and leadership. Children must honor and obey their parents.

Marriage is the first institution ordained by God, uniting one man and one woman as husband and wife; one flesh, one family. This definition specifically excludes homosexual relationships as families, but includes single parent families. We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Gen 2:18-25.) We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Cor 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb 13:4.) We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God. (Matt 15:18-20; 1 Cor 6:9-10.)

The husband-wife relationship is the primary relationship in the family. This priority does not change when husbands and wives become parents. Children are a great heritage from the Lord. It is the parents’ responsibility to teach the commandments of God and train them in righteousness. However, parents should not neglect their priority relationship.

God hates divorce, so great effort should be made to keep marriages together, and to restore broken relationships. However, there is great grace for those who have suffered divorce and are repentant.

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. (Ps 139.) We should value each other as God values us, remembering that the price He paid to redeem us was the life of His only Son. There is no room for partiality or discrimination based on sex, race, color, stature, physical health, or wealth.

Peace is achieved in our personal lives when we learn to fully trust Jesus and have faith in His promises. And when we accept Him as our Lord as well as our Savior with our life's focus being on serving Him and obeying His commands to love God with all our being and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves, "...in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose."(Romans 8:28). "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6,7)

Idolatry is anything in our lives that comes between our relationship with Jesus. He must be first before all else and we must be willing to give up everything else if He calls us to do so. This includes power, position, people, things, and money. For the early Israelites it was literally idols representing other gods worshipped by the original occupants of the Promised Land. Through intermarrying with these pagans, the Israelites compromised their relationship with God and made Him furious after many attempts to correct them. Today, the world tempts us with a multitude of "idols" that can divert our relationship with Christ. It is often the deceit of Satan that is presented so smoothly we fail to realize it at first. For example, a young man that becomes a workaholic to provide for the needs of his family does not realize he is neglecting his relationship with God and his family.
